Guadeloupe

I'm travelling all over the Caribbean and I'm sad to say that most of Caribbean people know about only 3 islands. Most of the time they never heard about Guadeloupe, I want to believe they just don't have access to information related to their French-speaking neighbours...

Here, a quick introduction about the singular territory of Guadeloupe.

First of all, Guadeloupe is not one island but basically FIVE.

The word "Guadeloupe" is also used as a shortcut to talk about the two main islands "Grande-Terre" and "Basse-Terre", shaped like a butterfly. The southern islands, smaller, are "La Désirade", "Marie-Galante" and "Les Saintes" which is itself 9 isles.

Guadeloupe is the largest island of the Lesser Antilles obviously after Trinidad & Tobago and got the highest peak of this area, its 1467m Soufrière Volcano.

A trip to Guadeloupe is not complete if you did not visit the five territories as each of them has its own way of life, landscape and story.
